LITTLE FLOWER BASILICA TO HOST RELICS OF ST. THÉRÈSE OF LISIEUX

San Antonio welcomes the “Little Flower” October 31—November 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Antonio, TX —The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower will welcome the relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, known worldwide as the “Little Flower,” from October 31 through November 4, 2025. This historic visit marks the first time in more than two decades that San Antonio has hosted the relics, last seen in the city in 1999, when more than 75,000 faithful and pilgrims came to venerate and reflect on her life and faith journey.

St. Thérèse, a Carmelite nun from Lisieux, France, is beloved for her “Little Way”, a spirituality of simplicity, humility, and love. Though she died at just 24 years old in 1897, her writings, letters, and reflections have inspired millions across the globe. Canonized in 1925 and later declared a Doctor of the Church, St. Thérèse’s message transcends time and denomination: greatness is found not in extraordinary deeds, but in ordinary acts of love done with extraordinary faith.

“The visit of St. Thérèse’s relics is a gift for the entire city,” said Fr. Gregory Ross, OCD, pastor and rector of the Basilica Shrine, “She reminds us that holiness is not distant or impossible—it begins with small gestures of kindness and trust in God.”

Throughout the visitation, the Basilica will host special liturgies, prayer services, and opportunities for quiet reflection. Pilgrims from across Texas and beyond are expected to attend. All are welcome, regardless of faith background, to experience this unique occasion of grace, peace, and inspiration.
