When the Violin Sings
Join us for this concert as we partner with the San Antonio Chamber Choir to raise funds towards the repair of our Bell Tower System.
September 29 @ 3pm | Doors open 2:30pm
When the Violin Sings will feature music by contemporary Indian-American composer Reena Esmail. This composition is the centerpiece of the concert, originally written for solo violin, rewritten for choir, and cello solo, using a most welcoming Hafiz text. The concert will also feature the popular Serenade to Music by British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and The Lark Ascending re-scored for solo violin and cello with the choir becoming the orchestra. Other featured selections include Vocalise by Rachmaninoff, La Muerte del Ángel by Piazzolla, Smile Thy Shores by Andrea Clearfield, and Chaconne by J.S. Bach with the poetry of W.H. Auden’s Stop All the Clocks.
