Learning to Pray the Liturgy of the Hours
Presented by members of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites of San Antonio.
The Liturgy of the Hours is the prayer of the whole People of God. In it, Christ himself continues His Priestly work through His Church. “It is the very prayer which Christ Himself, together with His Mystical Body addresses to the Father.” The Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office, is the daily prayer of the Church, sanctifying the various hours of the day with prayer. In the Hours, the royal priesthood of the baptized is exercised, and this sacrifice of praise is thus connected to the sacrifice of the Eucharist, both preparing for and flowing from the Mass.
This workshop will provide instruction and practice in praying the Morning and Evening Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours, two of the most important hinge Hours.
Participants are asked to bring their Book of Christian Prayer or their 4- Volume Liturgy of the Hours Breviary to the session.
