On Aug. 27 1998, the shrine was declared a Basilica by St. John Paul II. On Feb. 2, 1999, the church was dedicated as a Basilica in a special ceremony.
*Red-Letter Days are celebrated at major and minor Basilicas, one of which is our very own Little Flower Basilica. The faithful who devoutly attend Mass at Little Flower Basilica may obtain a plenary indulgence under the conditions that they also make sacramental confession, receive Eucharistic Communion during the Mass, and pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff (Pope Francis).
For February, Pope Francis’ intention is for vocations to the priesthood and religious life - that the ecclesial community might welcome the desires and doubts of those young people who feel a call to serve Christ's mission in the priesthood and religious life.
