On Aug. 27 1998, the shrine was declared a Basilica by St. John Paul II. On Feb. 2, 1999, the church was dedicated as a Basilica in a special ceremony.

*Red-Letter Days are celebrated at major and minor Basilicas, one of which is our very own Little Flower Basilica. The faithful who devoutly attend Mass at Little Flower Basilica may obtain a plenary indulgence under the conditions that they also make sacramental confession, receive Eucharistic Communion during the Mass, and pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff (Pope Francis).

For February, Pope Leo’s intention is that those who care for others might receive care. Let us pray that those who care for the holistic health of others might receive the support they need, and that with patience, wisdom, and fortitude, they might open avenues of inner healing and hope.
